Here's why the cast of Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story look so familiar
Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story recently began streaming on Netflix, and even those who didn’t care for the storyline (or the way it was presented) have to admit that the cast is pretty solid. And as it turns out, they have quite a bit of horror/thriller cred.
Ella Beatty (Lizzie) – Ella is the daughter of actors Warren Beatty and Annette Bening. She appeared in the hit film If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, but she also starred as Hannah in the psychological thriller Act One.
Charlie Hunnam (Andrew) – Hunnam is mostly known for his portrayal as Jax in the series Sons of Anarchy. He also appeared in Guillermo de Toro’s gorgeous 2015 gothic horror film Crimson Peak, in which he portrayed the doctor who tries to save Edith. And he famously played the title character in Monster: The Ed Gein Story.
Vicky Krieps (Bridgett/Maggie) – Vicky Krieps appeared in the action thrillers Hanna and The Girl in the Spider’s Web, and in M. Night Shyamalan’s Old. She also portrayed Ilse Koch in Monster: The Ed Gein Story, where she appeared with Charlie Hunnam.
Rebecca Hall (Abby) – Hall is a favorite of mine, and she was fantastic as Abby Borden in Monster. She appeared in the thrillers The Prestige, The Town, Trancendence, The Gift, and Resurrection. Her horror projects include The Awakening, The Night House, Godzilla vs. Kong, Adam Wingard’s recent Onslaught, and the upcoming A Head Full of Ghosts.
Jessica Barden (Nance O’Neil) – Jessica appeared with Vicky Krieps in Hanna, and in the thriller Mindscape. She also appeared in the British horror film Comedown, as well as American Horror Stories.
Billie Lourd (Emma) – Ryan Murphy fans know Billie Lourd as Chanel #3 in Scream Queens, or for her multiple seasons of American Horror Story, or even for her appearances in several of the newer Star Wars films (fitting, since she is the daughter of the late Carrie Fisher).
Sarah Paulson (Aileen Wuornos) – No doubt, Paulson’s performance as Aileen Wuornos in Monster was incredible. She has also appeared in Bird Box, Glass, Run, American Gothic, the Netflix series Ratched, Hold Your Breath, and nine of the prior 12 seasons of American Horror story. She is also appearing in the upcoming 13th season.
Joey Pollari (John Morse) – Pollari put in an appearance in Monster: The Ed Gein Story, and two episodes of The Beauty. He will also be appearing in American Horror Story: 13, so it seems he is a newer member of the Ryan Murphy crew.
Linda Reiter (Bertha Manchester) – Reiter played the role of the sadistic Bertha Manchester, who was the first victim of Lizzie and Maggie in Monster. She also appeared in an episode of Fargo, in the thriller 100 Days to Live, and on the podcast version of The Twilight Zone.
