Joe Bob Briggs is staying busy as his time at Shudder winds down

As we all know by now, Joe Bob Briggs’s time on Shudder is nearing its end. Joe Bob’s Halloween House Party will air on the horror streaming platform later this month, and there will be another special in honor of Christmas, but that will be it.
While none of us are happy that Shudder made the decision to cancel The Last Drive-In (a show that brought many fans to Shudder in the first place), it seems that Mr. Briggs is still staying busy. He has a few different irons in the fire, so let’s take a look.
Joe Bob Briggs is recording an audiobook!
That’s right, Joe Bob is stepping up to the mic to give us a very personal version of the complete and unabridged version of his 2025 Dark Horse edition of Joe Bob Goes to the Drive-In.
Fans will be able to hear Joe Bob’s original columns for the Dallas Times-Herald, along with some of his fan mail and his classic, often hilarious film reviews, all in his own voice.
Pre-sales of the audiobook are available exclusively on his official website right now, and the actual download will be sent out on December 15 – just in time for Christmas. It includes over 14 hours of Joe Bob’s content, and can be played in the audiobook or player that you currently use.
While many of the columns that are included are more than 40 years old, this is an updated and expanded edition of Joe Bob Goes to the Drive-In. Pre-orders are $25.99.
Joe Bob’s Halloween House Party will rock Shudder on October 23
As usual, we do not yet know which two films will be given the double feature treatment, but it will stream live at 9:00 p.m. ET, and will be available to watch on demand as of October 25. With this being Joe Bob and Darcy’s last Halloween special on Shudder, there should be plenty of surprises.
Joe Bob’s one-man show How Rednecks Saved Hollywood will make a final appearance before he retires it

“Spend a fast-and-furious two-plus hours with America’s drive-in movie critic at the Alamo Drafthouse Mountain View as he uses over 200 clips and stills to review the history of rednecks in America.”
The event will take place in Mountain View, California on November 6, and if you can make it, this writer highly recommends going. I attended a performance of How Rednecks Saved Hollywood a few years ago at Enzian Theatre in Maitland, Florida, and it did not disappoint.
Joe Bob and Darcy will be at Austin Film Society in Austin, Texas for Satan’s Workshop II
There will be two completely different double features, so get tickets for both if you can. Each double feature will consist of what are described as secret exploitation flicks.
The dates are November 21 and November 22, and tickets for AFS members went on sale October 8. Remaining tickets were opened up for purchase on October 9.
Joe Bob and Darcy have indicated they are working on plans for the future, so let’s keep our fingers and toes crossed that The Last Drive-In (or something similar) will be moving to a new venue soon. We probably won’t get any details until the final Christmas special airs on Shudder in December.
