Scream, Final Destination, and more are heading to Tubi in August

Tubi is adding a heck of a lot of horror movies to its August roster, including Scream and some of its sequel, Final Destination, and Halloween (2018). Besides those well-known horror franchises, there are some other gems in the streaming service's August schedule, including The Dead Zone, directed by David Cronenberg and starring Christopher Walken, and the punk rock A24 movie Green Room in which a fledgling DIY band fights Neo-Nazis, led by Patrick Stewart's sinister Darcy Banker.


Let's look at some of the highlight's for Tubi's August schedule.


Tubi adds several slashers and horror franchise favorites for August


As already mentioned, Tubi's August calendar includes Scream, as well as Scream 2 and Scream 3, all directed by horror maestro Wes Craven. Additionally, Tubi is adding Final Designation, Final Destination 2, and Final Destination 3. The movies focus on a group of teens who essentially try to cheat death and fate. As an American horror franchise, the films have incredibly creative kills. Another Tubi August highlight is Halloween 2018, which features a score by the franchise's initial director, John Carpenter, and the return of Jamie Lee Curtis, who faces off against Michael Myers yet again as Laurie Strode. This time, her character has serious survivalist skills, including a bobby trapped house.


Slasher fans can also enjoy some of the movies from the Poohniverse/Twisted Childhood Universe. Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 and Bambi: The Reckoning are arriving in August. Additionally, the clever horror comedy The Blackening is another noteworthy addition. The movie pokes fun at slasher cliches, especially the idea that the Black character often dies first.


Tubi includes some 80s horror classics for August


Fans of 80s horror will likely be happy with some of the films on Tubi's August schedule. Along with The Dead Zone, the streamer is adding Re-Animator. Directed by Stuart Gordon, the movie is based on an H.P. Lovecraft story and stars Jeffrey Combs, Barbara Crampton, and Bruce Abbott. The film follows an unhinged medical student, Herbert West (Combs), obsessed with reanimating the dead. The movie has great practical effects, gore, and laughs. It's a definite must-see.
