Cineverse is celebrating horror fans’ second-favorite holiday – Halfway to Halloween – with the announcement that the remake of Silent Night, Deadly Night will stream exclusively on SCREAMBOX in April.
The original Christmas horror film was released in 1984, and caused quite a controversy. Parents objected to the idea of a killer wearing a Santa suit, an image that was central to the advertising. After Silent Night, Deadly Night was released in theaters, a lot of public protests were mounted, and the film was quickly pulled.
Of course, since that time, it has acquired cult status, and there was even a sequel that was pretty much a remake all on its own.
Silent Night, Deadly Night was written and directed by Mike P. Nelson, who brought us Wrong Turn and V/H/S/85. Rohan Campbell (Halloween Ends) stars in the iconic role of Billy, and Ruby Modine (Happy Deathday) is Pamela.
Described as “a twisted reimagining of the controversial classic”, Silent Night, Deadly Night tells the story of Billy, who witnessed the violent murder of his parents on Christmas Eve. That’s bound to leave some pretty bad trauma, and Billy’s make itself known each year at Christmas, when he commits brutal murders.
But, this Christmas, things are different for Billy. When he meets Pamela, the two begin a relationship, and he confides his past to her. When tragedy strikes her family, Pamela seems willing to adopt Billy’s way of thinking.

Silent Night, Deadly Night will stream on SCREAMBOX on April 28
