The Last Temptation of Becky offers more of the same Nazi slaying in gory and fun fashion

Lulu Wilson is back as the anti-hero Becky to slay more Nazis in The Last Temptation of Becky. In this third film, the foul-mouthed blonde sets out to stop the rise of the fourth Reich once and for all. The latest installment is directed and co-written by Jenn Wexler, and the plot is even more absurd. While the film mostly offers more of the same at this point, it's still a bloody good time.

At the conclusion of the second movie, The Wrath of Becky, the young protagonist is recruited by the CIA to hunt Nazis. Of course, she accepts the job because there's few things Wilson's character enjoys more than slaughtering white supremacists. The cast is this movie's best asset. Horror mainstay Kate Siegel co-stars as Becky's supervisor, Agent Kate Montana, and she has a lot of screentime. Siegel gives the character a protective quality. Agent Montana generally cares about her fellow agents, especially when they're catapulted into major danger. In Becky's case, she's sent to an underground bunker in Poland to thwart the plans of the diabolical super Nazi General Wilhelm Reuss, played by Neil Patrick Harris.

While Siegel largely keeps her character grounded and realistic, Harris goes way, way over the top, and it's so entertaining to see. It's obvious he had fun playing such a sinister and outlandish villain. Reuss, along with his steely wife, Helga Reuss (Catherine Walker), are certainly as formidable as any of the villains Becky faced in the previous two movies. Some of the best scenes occur whenever Wilson, Harris, and Walker share screentime together. Walker and Harris' characters are such cartoonish, larger-than-life villains, but they also match the ridiculousness of Becky's character. It's a great fit all around.

The Last Temptation of Becky has a great cast and buckets of blood

Additionally, a lot of folks watch these movies to see Becky mow down Nazis, and in that regard, they won't be disappointed. The Wrath of Becky is probably the goriest installment in the trilogy, but this third chapter comes close. Becky uses machine guns, darts, poison, and other weapons to pulverize Nazis. With her face soaked in blood, she laughs and drops a barrage f-bombs as she kills one white supremacist after another. At times, heads and bodies explode, a feast for gorehounds.

As for Wilson, over three films, she's clearly grown into the role. By the third film, her character is more self-assured. She knows she's a badass and that she can complete any mission that the CIA throws her way, including going deep into an underground Nazi bunker. However, what's interesting is when Becky struggles to veil her emotions. There's a push and pull regarding Becky's core, and it deserved to be explored more, especially flashbacks when Becky watched Nazis kill her father (Joel McHale) in the first movie. We're given glimpses of Becky's emotional trauma, but it's all too brief. It could have served to humanize her character more. Out of the three movies, Becky's arc and dimension feels the flattest here.

Overall, The Last Temptation of Becky has an even more bonkers plot and geysers of gore. Harris plays a great super villain, and Wilson continues to be the heart and soul of these movies. While this third chapter doesn't bring much new to the table, it's always a blast watching Becky exterminate Nazis.
