4 true crime docs to watch if you loved Netflix's Worst Neighbor Ever

Worst Neighbor Ever - Netflix

The Netflix docuseries Worst Neighbor Ever is  what most followers of true crime are talking about right now, thanks to its hair-raising stories. Though it consists of only four stories, each one is more shocking than the one before it.

And make no mistake, this isn’t just a slightly crazier version of A&E’s Neighborhood Wars. These tales all include death, either by murder or happenstance, and the victims/neighbors have all been traumatized by the events.

If Worst Neighbor Ever just wasn’t enough crazy (and often homicidal) behavior for you, here are four more crazy true crime docu-series to give you nightmares. Three of these are also on Netflix, but the first one we are going to talk about is not.

Squatters: Get the F*** Out of My House - Hulu

Squatters: Get the F*** Out of My House – This series, which is currently streaming on Hulu looks at situations where a person or people have basically taken over a home that does not belong to them. The stories are most often told by the home owners and law enforcement, and there is even a version of the Caroline Herrling saga, which was also covered in Worst Neighbor Ever.

It’s often infuriating to find out how lax the laws are regarding squatters in most states, and you can’t help but cheer when they are FINALLY forced out of the houses they have basically kidnapped. This is the only doc on this list that is available to watch on Hulu.

I Am a Stalker – As chilling as the stories in Worst Neighbor Ever are, I Am a Stalker is equally so. These stories are told by the victims, but what makes it even more interesting is that we are also hearing directly from the stalkers. They are sitting facing the camera, and are recorded in prison.

Six of the perpetrators in the eight episodes are men, but surprisingly, two are women. And what is truly scary is that almost every one of these stalkers claims they either don’t consider themselves stalkers, or didn’t know that what they were doing was stalking. If they had known, they would never have done it…so they claim. But in most cases, they try very hard to deny their classification as a stalker. One even claims the handcuffs and stun gun he used on his ex’s parents were toys that he had brought for her child, despite the fact that legal paperwork shows they were very real.

Worst Ex Ever - Netflix

Worst Ex Ever – The second season of this docuseries just hit Netflix in May, and it was also the topic of much conversation amongst the true crime crowd. Each season consists of four episodes, and as in its two companion series Worst Neighbor Ever and Worst Roommate Ever, some of the events are portrayed through animation rather than reenactments.

Again we are hearing the stories from the victims, witnesses, and law enforcement, and just when you think the worst has happened, it gets even more insane. From theft to kidnapping to murder, these exes do everything they can to get what they want.

Worst Roommate Ever - Netflix

Worst Roommate Ever – There are also two seasons (four episodes each) of this docuseries, which is very similar to the other two “Worst Ever” series, except it deals with roommates from hell.

The very first episode (Call Me Grandma) is about elderly Dorothea Puente, who seems like a kindly woman who wants to help those less fortunate than herself. But she is a prime example of not judging a book by its cover.

The tales include college roommates gone bad, a roommate who became obsessed with her best friend’s child, and a murder wherein the victims body parts were dumped in various suitcases and bags.
