AMC Networks has announced the premiere date and released first look images for the third season of their series The Terror. Titled The Terror: Devil in Silver, the new season will consist of six episodes, and will run on both AMC+ and Shudder.
The Terror is a unique series in that each season is based on an entirely different story, in an entirely different era. Season one was based on Dan Simmons’s 2007 novel The Terror, which was centered around Captain Sir John Franklin’s ill-fated Arctic expedition in the 1840s.
While the bones of the story are factual, this was a fictionalized version of what the men on board the Royal Navy’s ships HMS Erebus and HMS Terror endured when the ships became immobilized and trapped at sea due to ice. They had been headed to King William Island in search of the fabled Northwest Passage.
In the limited series, the men not only endured freezing temperatures and starvation, but also encounter a number of horror-tinged events. There is a vicious killer on board the ship, and they are being stalked by a massive, monstrous creature…meaning several of the characters are killed off.

The Terror was added to AMC+ in 2023, and quickly became one of its most watched titles. If you missed them on their original runs, you can catch both seasons one and two currently streaming on AMC+ and Shudder.
Season two was The Terror: Infamy, and was set in the United States during World War II. Again, the story was based on real events with a fictional paranormal twist. The true part is that after the Pearl Harbor attack, people of Japanese ancestry were forced to evacuate their homes, and were placed in internment camps.

Chester and his family (including his pregnant girlfriend Luz) are in the camp with many of their friends, when strange things begin to happen. Many of them believe the events are due to a bakemono, which is a preternatural creature found in Japanese folklore, that often appears in human form.
Both seasons were excellent, with engrossing storylines, plenty of scares, and great casts.

The Terror: Devil in Silver features Dan Stevens (Abigail), Judith Light (Escaping the Madhouse: The Nellie Bly Story), CCH Pounder (Orphan), Aasif Mandvi (Evil), John Benajmin Hickey (‘Salem’s Lot), Stephen Root (Get Out), and Marin Ireland (The Dark and the Wicked).
Stevens is Pepper, a man who ends up committed to New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital wrongly. “There, he must contend with patients working against him, doctors harboring grim secrets, and perhaps even the Devil himself. As Pepper navigates a hellscape where nothing is as it seems, he finds that the only path to freedom is to face the entity which thrives on the suffering within New Hyde’s walls – but doing so may prove that the worst demons of all live inside him.”
When does The Terror: Devil in Silver premiere on AMC+ and Shudder?
The new season will make its debut on Thursday, May 7, and new episodes will premiere weekly. It will begin a run on AMC later in the year.
The Terror: Devil in Silver is executive produced by Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Clayton Krueger, Alexandra Milchan, Guymon Casady, and Brooke Kennedy.
