The case of Jodi Arias is one that has fascinated true crime followers since the extremely violent murder of Travis Alexander in 2008. There have been numerous documentaries made, and even a Lifetime “docudrama” called Jodi Arias: Dirty Little Secret.
Despite the fact that she was ultimately found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison, some people believe she snapped due to alleged abuse by Travis. Others point to the facts of the crime itself, and to Jodi’s behavior afterwards. Now Breaking Glass Pictures is announcing the digital release of their own true-crime documentary, Dear Jodi.
Breaking Glass has this to say: “Dear Jodi steps back from the noise to focus on overlooked evidence, untold perspective, and new reflections from individuals close to the case.” The film is a collaboration with the Within Range Podcast, and promises to include a guest “connected to key figures involved in the investigation and trial.”
Travis Alexander was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and worked for Pre-Paid Legal services when he met Jodi at a work conference in Las Vegas in 2006. The chemistry between the two was said to be immediate, and they began a very tumultuous relationship. Though their relationship definitely included sex, Travis was set on marrying a woman who shared his faith, and seemed ashamed that he was unable to resist the attraction he felt for Jodi.
Jodi was eventually baptized into the LDS, and she and Travis continued an on-again off-again relationship, even when she moved from Arizona to California. Things were always volatile between them, and Travis’s friends expressed concerns about Jodi’s obsessive behavior. Travis also continued to pursue other women.
On June 4, 2008, Travis was murdered in the home he shared with roommates while taking a shower. It was a case of overkill; his throat was slit, he was stabbed 27 times and was shot in the head. Jodi left behind a slew of evidence, and quickly became a suspect, and her behavior afterwards was odd to say the least. For example, when she was left alone in the interrogation room at the police station, she was doing handstands.
Breaking Glass Pictures has not yet announced a release date for true crime doc Dear Jodi
While the release date has not been stated, the trailer has been launched. Dear Jodi will include appearances by Clive Christopher, Jared Suter, Dominic Vaquez, Darren Burch, Joe Arpaio, Noah Gruber, Vanesha Guidry, and Andrew Leal.
