Watch the trailers for Fall 2: Deadpoint and Ice Cream Man

Trailers just dropped for two new horror films coming to us in late summer and early fall, and both look really intriguing. First, let’s take a peek at the trailer for Eli Roth’s Ice Cream Man, which is scheduled to release in theatres on August 7.

Despite the campy appearance of the trailer, this is NOT a remake of Paul Norman’s 1995 comedy slasher. That film starred Clint Howard as the psychotic title character, who used human flesh to craft his ice cream recipes.

Eli Roth’s Ice Cream Man is about an entirely different maniacal man, whose frozen concoctions transform innocent children into murderous creatures. It’s Roth’s first movie under his new The Horror Section banner, and he is the co-writer, director and producer.

The trailer is fast-paced and very bloody, something we expect from Roth, a massive lover of horror movies. His AMC series Eli Roth’s History of Horror is a great watch for people who are interested in horror both old and new, and he knows what he is doing.

In the trailer, we see cuts of children running out to the ice cream truck, eating said ice cream, and then transforming into small killing machines. Said kills are vicious and brutal, with the standout being a high school girl who is literally torn in two.

It all looks very over-the-top, but not at all serious, so I will see it when I’m in the mood for some light-hearted horror.

Next up is the trailer for Fall 2: Deadpoint

Fall 2: Deadpoint, will open in theatres on September 2 of this year. It’s a sequel to 2022’s Fall, a stress-inducing film about two young women trapped at the top of a broadcasting tower in the desert.

In Fall, Becky and Shiloh are climbing the 2,000 foot tower in an attempt to relieve Becky’s trauma from losing her husband during a mountain climb a year prior. When the corroded ladder they are using breaks, the two are stuck.

In Fall 2: Deadpoint, Shiloh’s sister Jax and friend Luce travel to Thailand to climb a plank walk on Mount Kwan. When an unexpected rockslide occurs, they are trapped at 3,000 feet with no escape in sight.

The trailer for this one looks just as if it will be as anxiety producing (if not more than) the original film. It’s spare, giving only the sound of fearful breathing, and a few brief shots of young women up on the broken walk, while the accompanying text tells us all about how high altitude can affect the human body. But it definitely caused me to lean forward and hold my breath, not knowing what to expect.

What do you think of these trailers, readers? Do they inspire you to see Ice Cream Man and Fall 2: Deadpoint?
