Following its theatrical release last month, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (read our review) releases on digital platforms today. The movie will also see a 4K UHD Steelbook, Blu-ray, and DVD release on April 21.
The second entry in a trilogy, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple was directed by Nia DaCosta, with a script by Alex Garland. The movie picks up directly after 28 Years Later. Spike (Alfie Williams) gets sucked in by a cult of Jimmies, religious fanatics that believe in everything Jack O'Connell's St. Jimmy Crystal spews. They're Satanists with a heavy bloodlust. The infected, meanwhile, largely take a backseat to the human violence, but there is a storyline regarding Ralph Fiennes' Dr. Kelson's experimentations on Alpha (Chi Lewis-Parry), who Dr. Kelson has affectionally named Samson.
The end of the film sees the return of a franchise favorite, and it opens exciting possibilities for the third and final chapter. There's no word yet on when the next film will be released or who will direct it, though it is likely that Garland will handle writing duties again. There's a lot of intriguing plotlines created from the last two movies that will come to a head, including a potential cure.
The physical release includes the following extras.
4K UHD, Blu-ray, and digital extras:
Commentary with director Nia DaCosta
Behind the Scenes: New Blood, The Doctor and the Devil, Beneath the Rage
Deleted Scenes
Infected Takes: Bloopers
DVD extras:

Though 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple earned critical acclaim, the movie struggled at the box office, perhaps because of its mid-January release. The film opened to just $12.5 million domestically, far below expectations. With a production budget of $63 million, the film has still not broken even in terms of its box office gross. Still, it's likely to find a new audience on streaming, and, as already stated, the movie earned some of the franchise's best reviews. Additionally, despite The Bone Temple's box office performance, Sony has already greenlit the third movie, so it's still happening.
Meanwhile, the movie is worth a watch just for Fiennes and O'Connell's stellar performances. Following Sinners, O'Connell is really making a name for himself as a breakout horror villain, and Fiennes has a scene involving Iron Maiden that's simply unforgettable.
