6 new trailers to mark on your horror movie calendar RIGHT NOW

We are in the midst of Halloween season, and the new horror movie trailers are flying at us at the speed of sound. It seems like a new and interesting trailer is coming out every day right now, and I am already making my list.
Here are six new trailers that have caught my interest recently, along with their release dates and where you can see them.
The Cycle (on Shudder October 23) – The Cycle made its debut at Fantastic Fest, and iconic horror author Stephen King said: “I don’t usually pump up horror movies (unless they are mine, haha), but this is special. Put it on your calendar.” I will certainly do that!
It stars Deborah Ann Woll (who played fledging vamp Jessica on True Blood) as Dr. Meg Garland, a criminologist who is called in to consult on the discovery of three bodies. One of those bodies turns out to be her father, a man who disappeared more than 30 years ago.
Now Meg is torn between solving the mystery and wanting to walk away from the man who walked away from his family long ago. Family trauma is a bi**h, ya’ll.
Christmas at the Kringles (in theatres October 30) – Mark Severson (Ron Livingston of The Conjuring) and his wife and kids move into a quiet neighborhood, only to discover their next-door neighbors, the Kringles, are big fans of Christmas, recognizing the holiday all year long.
When the Severson’s son begins to become attached to the Kringles, Mark and Julie become concerned, and things get crazy as they team up with a deranged Santa to fight the Kringles. The film was rated R for strong, bloody violence, language, and some sexual content, so don’t write it off as a fluffy holiday flick!
Victorian Psycho (in theatres November 13) – You had me at Maika Monroe, take my money and roll the film! The film’s website lists the following synopsis of this horror thriller as follows: “Set in Victorian England, Victorian Psycho sees an eccentric governess arrive at a remote gothic manor, where strange happenings stir suspicion that she’s not what she seems.”
That’s not much to go on, but the trailer shows what looks to be a delightfully unhinged performance by Monroe, known for her work in such horror films as It Follows and Longlegs.
Werwulf (in theatres December 25) – Writer/Director Robert Eggers is known for his moody gothic horror films such as The Witch and Nosferatu, and Werwulf looks like it fits firmly in with those two horror movies.
Set in 14th century England, Werwulf tells the story of a village being terrorized by a murderous beast. It stars Eggers’ regulars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe, Ralph Ineson, and Kate Dickie. Might be a good movie to watch on Christmas Day!
River (Releases in theatres January 15, 2027) – The newest trailer on this list, River is a Blumhouse-Atomic Monster film. Jane Levy (Don’t Breathe, Evil Dead 2013) stars alongside Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day), Max Mattern (Cape Fear), and Dane DiLiegro (Prey).
“Three estranged siblings reunite to scatter their late fathers ashes on a remote river, but find themselves stranded on their broken-down boat and tormented by a faceless killer.” When River premiered at TIFF, the response was so great that a bidding war broke out, with Universal Pictures and Blumhouse-Atomic Monster acquiring the rights for $10 million. And that trailer is FIRE.
Can Flanagan rescue The Exorcist franchise? The trailer says yes
The Exorcist: Martyrs (in theatres March 12, 2027) – After the dismal failure of 2023’s The Exorcist: Believer, plans for its sequel were scrapped, and Blumhouse-Atomic Monster and Morgan Creek Entertainment made the smart decision to bring Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House) on board.
The film stars Scarlett Hohansson as a NY detective who previously captured a satanic serial killer. When a new killer writes her name in blood at the scene of a murder, she is pulled back into the darkness and begins to suspect a link between serial killers such as H.H. Holmes and the Zodiac.
Between the involvement of the brilliant Mike Flanagan, a top-notch cast, and an intriguing trailer, this looks like it may break the curse of The Exorcist sequels.
