Tubi's July horror highlights include American Psycho, The Witch, The Carpenter's Son, and more

With July now underway, there's no better time to hide out in the air conditioning and watch horror movies. Thankfully, Tubi is adding plenty of genre movies this month. From folk horror, to slashers, there's really something for everyone regarding Tubi's additions. Let's check out some of the highlights.

Cool down with Tubi's folk horror additions

Tubi is adding some must-see folk horror movies for July, including Robert Eggers' feature debut The Witch. Set in Puritan-era New England, the movie stars Anya Taylor-Joy as Thomasin. Her family, especially her father, suspects that she's a witch and blame her for their hard luck. This movie kicked off Taylor-Joy's career, and it also introduced the world to Black Phillip.

Besides The Witch, Tubi is adding another A24 folk horror favorite, Lamb. Released in 2021, the movie is set in rural Iceland and features a childless couple who discovers a strange and unnatural newborn in their sheep barn. The couple decides to raise the child as their own, but sinister forces want to return the child to the wilderness.

Tubi adds several Indidious movies

Before Insidious: Out of the Further releases in theaters on August 21, catch up with the franchise via Tubi. The streamer is adding Insidious, Insidious: Chapter 2, and Insidious: Chapter 3 this month. Though the new movie apparently tells a separate story, it still features franchise stalwart Lin Shaye, who plays Elise Rainier, so even if the latest movie features a different story, it's probably not a bad idea to watch the initial movies and play catch up.

Other Tubi July highlights include the new horror movies The Carpenter's Son and Man Finds Tape

Besides several classic horror movies, Tubi is adding two newish films that are worth a watch. The first is The Carpenter's Son. The movie stars Nicolas Cage, Noah Jupe, and FKA Twigs. The supernatural horror feature is based on the early years of Jesus Christ. Set in Roman-era Egypt, the movie follows the Holy Family, who hides in a remote village under the frequent threat of violence. The teenage Jesus (Jupe), known as "the Boy," begins to discover his supernatural abilities, but he's also tormented by nightmarish visions and the strict expectations of his father, Joseph (Cage).

Meanwhile, the found footage movie Man Finds Tape follows the documentarian Lynn Page (Kelsey Pribilski). She returns to her Texas hometown to investigate strange events. Her brother, Lucas (William Magnunson), a YouTuber, has uncovered footage of a strange hit-and-run and bystanders that went catatonic. The movie also veers into cosmic horror territory.
