The Fantasia Film Festival just announced it second wave of films for its upcoming 30th edition, which will occur from July 16-August 2. The fest will return to the Concordia Hall and J.A. de Sève cinemas, with additional screenings and events at Montréal’s Cinéma du Musée.

Here is a breakdown of some of the second wave programming highlights.

Cape Fear Series Finale

In this reimagining of Cape Fear, a storm is brewing for married attorneys Anna (Amy Adams) and Tom Bowden (Patrick Wilson) when Max Cady (Javier Bardem), a killer they put behind bars, is released from prison. He'll stop at nothing to exact revenge on the married couple responsible for his imprisonment. Cape Fear is now streaming on Apple TV, and Fantasia will screen the series finale, with showrunner Nick Antocasa in attendance. Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese are executive producers.

God Skin Set to Unleash a Cyberpunk Throwdown

In need of money, Marwin, a Bangkok delivery boy, discovers an arena where the wealthy bet on martial arts matches, but with a high-tech twist. In this Thai action-fantasy film, the Panna Stunt Team, which are veterans of the ONG-BAK films, handle the combat choreography, so there's plenty of high-caliber action to enjoy as Marwin faces off against his rivals. The film is directed by Paween Purijitpanya and stars Sutthirak Subvijitra. This will be the film's world premiere.

Los Vampires Features a 1930s Film Shoot and Dueling Dracs

Here's another world premiere to check out. In 1930s Hollywood, a Spanish actor (Henry Ian Cusick) is cast for a night shoot of what's soon-to-be a legendary vampire flick. But he's forced to imitate the English-speaking star (Thomas Kretschmann), who performs the same role in the daytime. As the two actors meet during the transitory hours of filming, a rivalry forms. Meanwhile, a string of murders occurs around the soundstage. Craig Mitchell's Los Vampires is a fantastical and fictionalized account of George Melford's Spanish Dracula from 1931.

The Adams Family Returns to Fantasia with The Glorious Dead

The filmmaking team known as the Adams Family is a staple at Fantasia, and they're returning this year with the world premiere of The Glorious Dead. In their latest feature, a small-town sheriff (Tobey Poser) and her young deputy (Zelda Adams) wake up to find the world they believed in no longer exists. Blood drips from faucets. People and pets have gone missing, while fleshy creatures roam the woods. Even the dirt can't keep the dead down, as anger spreads through the community.

Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma Tackles the Slasher Genre

Jane Schoenbrun's follow-up to I Saw the TV Glow is Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, starring Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson. After years of sequels and lessening fandom, the Camp Miasma slasher franchise is handed over to a young director for a resurrection. However, when she visits the first movie's star, a now-reclusive actress, the two women are plunged into a blood-soaked world of delirium, desire, and fear. This is one of the buzziest horror movies of the year and a definite must-see.

Other Second Wave Fantasia Highlights

The other films announced in the second wave line-up include the high-octane action film Wind Breaker, the comedy Big Break, The Mutation, the vibrant vampire film I Love Paris, the Australian feature Penny Lane Is Dead, which is described as a reworking of Ozploitation thrillers, the Vietnamese war film Tunnels: Sun the Dark, Nightborn, Backstage Madness, and more.
