Shudder is bringing us two new Originals, a handful of Hong Kong horror movies, and more Shudder resurrected titles in February. And for the first time, I don't recognize ANY of the resurrected films! But some of them sound interesting, so I look forward to finding something new (to me).

February 1:

Bewitched – “While possessed by an evil spirit, a man murders his daughter. A police detective investigating the case also becomes possessed. A good monk helps fight the evil spirit.”

Black Magic – Evil magician Chan Chien-mi lives in the forest, where he makes his living by collecting money from people wishing to cast spells on others. But Master Fu Yong realizes that the magician is getting out of control.

Black Magic II – In this sequel, martial arts and zombies are mashed up as an evil magician uses zombies to practice his dark magic.

The Boxer’s Omen – When a box is paralyzed after a particularly brutal match, he asks his brother to avenge him.

Hex – “A woman who has murdered her abusive husband, sees his return as a vengeful ghost. “

Hex After Hex – In the sequel to Hex, a ghost causes a car crash, then possesses the body of a young woman who dies in the crash.

Hex vs Witchcraft – “A man who agrees to trade his wife to settle his massive gambling debt is overcome with remorse and guilt, but is saved from a suicide attempt by a beautiful ghost.”

Oily Maniac – In this 1976 film out of Hong Kong, a disabled man wakes up a demon before being transformed into it. In the body of the demon, he begins to seek vengeance on criminals.

Seeding of a Ghost – A Hong Kong taxi driver seeks revenge against two men who killed his unfaithful wife.

Visible Secret – Peter’s new girlfriend June claims to have mysterious powers that allow her to see ghosts. Soon, Peter too begins to encounter spirits.

A Chinese Ghost Story – A tax collector ventures into a rural area, where he ends up spending he night at a deserted temple in the woods. He encounters a female ghost and falls in love with her, but he must now figure out how to rescue her from the demon who owns her.

A Chinese Ghost Story II – “Following his encounter with the ghosts, tax collector Lin Choi-San gets caught up with a group of rebels and faces a new batch of supernatural terrors.”

A Chinese Ghost Story III – 100 years after the events from the first film, two monks are charged with transporting a statue of Buddha when they spend the night at a haunted temple.

Evil Cat – When a demonic cat possesses the body of a tycoon, Master Cheung must fight to protect the world.

J. D.’s Revenge – This 1976 blaxploitation film is about a young Black law student named Ike, who is possessed by the spirit of a New Orleans gangster who was killed on Bourbon Street in 1942.

February 9:

Nina Forever – Poor Rob. First he loses his girlfriend Nina in a car accident, then he unsuccessfully tries to commit suicide. But, time goes on, and he falls in love with Holly. Things get complicated when Nina returns to life, only to pop up every time Rob and Holly have sex.

Bird Eater – “A bride-to-be is invited to her fiancé’s bachelor party, but when uncomfortable details of their relationship are exposed, the night takes a feral turn.”

Kill Your Lover – Dakota and Axel are in a toxic relationship, but when Dakota tries to end things between them, Axel transforms into a violent monster.

February 13:

Honey Bunch (Shudder Original) – Diana awakens from a coma with partial amnesia, so he and her husband visit place that offers experimental treatment. “As the procedures intensify, their marriage is put to the test.” Honey Bunch was written and directed by Madeleine Sims-Fewer and Dusty Mancinelli, who brought us the brutal and relentless Violation.

February 16:

The Last Sacrifice – This documentary explores the true story of Charles Walton, a man found murdered on Valentine’s night in 1945. The story, which involved possible witchcraft, inspired the film The Wicker Man and possibly kicked off the folk horror sub-genre.

Hood Witch – Single mom Nour pays the bills in an unusual way: she smuggles exotic animals and illegal products. When her mobile app, intended to match users up with mystical healers, results in tragedy, Nour is hunted down by people who believe her to be a witch.

I Will Never Leave You Alone – After his release from prison “a brooding man with a dark past is forced to stay in a haunted house to clear it of spirits. If he leaves, he goes back to prison, but the witch-ghost may be more punishment than he can withstand.”

February 27:

Crazy Old Lady (Shudder Original) – One rainy night, Pedro’s ex-girlfriend calls him and asks him to check on her mother Alicia, who is senile. But Alicia won’t let Pedro leave, and he is made to endure the woman’s sadistic games.
