Shudder just dropped the details for this year’s annual Season of Screams event (something we look forward to every year), and it’s massive. The programming event begins on September 1, and will run through the end of the year.
Some iconic franchise films and series will be spotlighted, including Insidious, Twilight Zone: The Movie, and all four of the beloved Psycho films. We will also be treated to a new Ghoul Log, which longtime subscribers know is the perfect back drop for pumpkin carving, Halloween parties, and all sorts of spooky happenings. Basically, it’s a Halloween-centric twist on the tradition Christmas time yule log.
New Shudder film premieres for September and October include:
Parasomnia (Shudder Original, premiering Friday, September 4) – Riley is already traumatized by night terrors and a tragic past, but when her best friend disappears, she starts to think that maybe the demon who has been haunting her dreams is very real.
Marama (Shudder Exclusive, premieres Friday, September 11) – This New Zealand gothic horror movie is currently rated 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Orphaned Mary Stepehs travels to Victorian England in 1859 after receiving a letter from someone claiming to have information about her parents.
The Creep Tapes (season 3 premieres September 15) – The Shudder Original series returns with more video tapes from the vault of “the world’s deadliest and most socially uncomfortable serial killer.” Guest stars for the third season include Nic Hamilton, Kate Siegel, Elliott Fullam, and Mark Duplass’s daughter Ora Duplass.
Good Goody (Shudder Original, premieres Friday, September 18) – “Lulled into a necessary sense of comfort during a long home birth process, expecting parents (Samantha Robinson, The Love Witch) and Colby Hollman, Fear the Walking Dead) and their midwife (Colleen Foy, Station 19) begin to realize something may be horribly wrong. A blizzard rages outside, trapping the family in their home as increasingly sinister complications arise.”
Bloody Tennis (Shudder Original, premiering Friday, September 25) – Sophie thinks she has it made after she is admitted to a very elite tennis academy in Europe. But once she is there, she has to deal with the brutally competitive team members and with the very creepy vibe of the school itself.
Infirmary (Shudder Original, October 2) – Terrifying bodycam footage from a guard who vanished while working at an old psychiatric hospital in 2023 shows some pretty scary incidents.
V/H/S Mixtape (Shudder Original, October 9) – This is the ninth installment of the V/H/S anthology franchise, and on this go-round, the stories explore “the power of music, rhythm, and audio to haunt, possess and destroy.” Shock metal band GWAR puts in an appearance as well.

Hallowarrior (Shudder Original, October 16) – Milly Shapiro of Herditary stars as Pumpkin, the last human left alive after a plague ravages the earth. As Pumpkin searches for supplies on Halloween Eve, she encounters a violent gang, and she is forced to fight back.
Joe Bob’s Halloween House Party (Shudder Original Special, October 23) – Joe Bob and Darcy are back with their annual Halloween special, a double feature promised to be “full of tricks, treats, and violent dismemberment.”
Fangoria Chainsaw Awards (Shudder Original Special, October 25) – Fangoria is once again presenting their annual Chainsaw Awards exclusively on Shudder. Devon Sawa hosts, and special guests will join along in the fun.
Big Baby (Shudder Exclusive, October 30) – Spider One directed this slasher about a horror writer who is inspired by his own nightmares. The nightmares involve a crazed killer who wears a baby mask…and this killer may actually be real.
Hunting Matthew Nichols (Shudder Exclusive, October 31) – Teenager Matthew Nichols and his friend Jordan disappeared into the woods in Vancouver back in 2001. 22 years later, Matthew’s younger sister Tara is working on a documentary about the disappearances when some disturbing video footage turns up.
The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula Season 7 (Shudder Original Series) – Swanthula and Dracmorda Boulet will be back for another season this fall, though a specific premiere date hasn’t been announced yet. Join Drac and Swan, along with a spectacular cast of spooky masters of drag for the craziest, sometimes dangerous, always spicy drag competition show around.
