It's late spring, and with that comes a flurry of proms across the nation. Horror 365 is celebrating the season with a dark and unique twist for horror fans. Their Prom Night event will be held on June 20 from 7-11 pm at 70 East Main Street in Freehold, New Jersey. Organizers promise a night of music, mayhem, and other events inspired by horror-themed prom movies.

More specifically, and according to a press release, the night will feature the following:

  • A live DJ and dancing

  • Horror-inspired photo ops

  • A prom king and queen crowning

  • Costume contests

  • Raffles

  • Choose your fate prom date event

  • Horror-themed trivia

  • Light refreshments and a cash bar

  • Additional spooky surprises and appearances throughout the evening

This is the second major event that the Horror 365 crew hosted this season. Earlier this month, they threw a 40th anniversary celebration for Friday the 13th Pt. 6: Jason Lives at the Waldorf Estate of Fear, the filming location of the Hell House movies in Lehighton, Pennsylvania. The event featured photo ops, vendors, and autographs with C.J. Graham (Jason), Thom Mathews (Tommy Jarvis), writer/director Tom McLoughlin, and Kerry Noonan (Paula).

At the Jason Lives bash, The Horror Lounge spoke to "The Anesthesiologist" Swift Knox, VP of Horror 365, and the "Mouthpiece of the Northeast" Jimmy J, the organization's founder, about the upcoming prom event. Knox encouraged attendees to "dress to impress, but with a killer twist." He added, "Maybe you come out with your tuxedo, but you have a shirt with butcher knives on it. Get creative," he said, before stating that they'll crown a prom king and queen and will have prizes and various other horror-themed contests.

Meanwhile, Jimmy J stressed that this is an affordable event, and he's looking forward to utilizing and decorating the venue. "If you missed your prom, you have to go to this one. It'll be a killer time," he said.

Additionally, Jimmy J explained that Horror 365 initially started out as a podcast in 2021 but has since transformed into an organization that hosts horror events, while also shining a spotlight upon other groups and members that have a positive impact on the community.

Knox added that following the pandemic, the Horror 365 group wanted to bring people back to movie theaters, instead of merely watching movies at home, via streaming. "Once the pandemic happened, people didn’t really go to the movies, especially with the advent of streaming. We just want people to come back out. We do movie theater events where we give people a reason to enjoy coming back to the movies again," he said.

Tickets to the prom night event can be purchased by clicking here. Event organizers do expect them to sell out.
