Ignite Films has announced a series of cult horror films as part of their upcoming 2027 slate for 4K restoration. This is headlined by Brian Yunzna's body horror classic Society, as well as the horror sci-fi movie Horror Express. Additional 4K transfers in development include the killer-kids slasher Blood Birthday and the unsettling feature The Baby.

Society will be the first film released on 4K, and its targeted date is early 2027. The slate was announced this week by Jan Willem Bosman Jansen of Ignite Films and Jim Quan of Eagle Pictures. The announcement was made at the Cannes Film Festival.

“It’s incredibly exciting to continue building our release slate with films from the libraries of Ignite Films and Eagle Rock Pictures, and in just two short years we’re grateful to have received multiple Saturn Award nominations and wins. Here at the Marché, we’re looking forward to discovering exciting new library titles from around the world,” Jansen stated in a press statement.

Ignite's 4K restoration of the genre classic Re-Animator for its 40th anniversary received acclaim and a Saturn Award nomination for Best Classic Film Home Media Release. In June 2026, Ignite Films will also release Bride of Re-Animator on 4K. Preorders are now available on the company's website.

Society stars Billy Warlock, Devin DeVasquez, Evan Richards, Patrice Jennings, and Ben Slack. Its focuses on a troubled Beverly Hills teen (Warlock), who begins to suspect that his wealthy family is part of an elite social circle with a horrible secret. He eventually uncovers the secret, and the result is an unforgettable body-melting/merging finale.

Released in 1972, Horror Express stars genre icons Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, and Telly Savalas. An American paleontologist transports a frozen creature aboard the Trans-Siberian Express, in hopes of making a scientific breakthrough. During the journey, passengers turn up dead, with their memories drained and their eyes glowing white. Panic spreads throughout the train, as rival scientists and survivors confront the ancient force that can possess human minds. The movie blends sci-fi and horror with a dash of mystery.

Bloody Birthday was released at the peak of the slasher boom in 1981. The cast includes Lori Lethin, Melinda Cordell, Julie Brown, Susan Strasberg, and Jose Ferrer. Directed by Ed Hunt, the film occurs during a rare solar eclipse. Three children are born under a sinister planetary alignment, said to eliminate human emotion. A decade later, the trio embarks upon a killing spree in their quiet suburban town, targeting anyone who threatens their secrets. As the body count piles up, a teen girl and her younger brother uncover the horrific truth about the murders.

The 1973 film The Baby, directed by Ted Post, stars Anjanette Comer, Ruth Roman, Marianna Hill, and Michael Pataki. A young social worker becomes obsessed with an unnerving case involving a grown man who is still treated like an infant by his family. As the social worker investigates the household, ruled by an overbearing mother and her cruel daughters, she uncovers psychological abuse and deeply buried secrets.
