The Horror Lounge is excited to pass on the exciting horror news that was released in the past ten days. Let's dig in!
AMC’s excellent series Dark Winds will debut its fourth season on February 14. The series, which is described as a psychological thriller, has been critically acclaimed. It follows Joe Leaphorn, Jim Chee, and Bernadette Manuelito, who are Navajo Tribal Police officers in the Southwestern area known as Four Corners.
Dark Winds is set in the 1970s, and features unique storylines involving murder, intrigue, and the supernatural. Stars Zahn McClarnon, Kiowa Gordon, and Jessica Matten, along with a talented supporting cast keep viewers invested in the dark storyline and mysterious goings-on.
AMC has just announced that Dark Winds has been renewed for a fifth season, which is quite an honor considering the fourth season hasn’t yet premiered.
IFC/Shudder released a trailer for its upcoming remake of the late 70s sensation Faces of Death. The original claimed to be actual footage of very real deaths, though it was later discovered that most of the footage was faked.

In the remake, “a woman (Barbie Ferreira) working as a content moderator for a major video platform discovers what appears to be re-enactments of murders from the original film. In an online world where nothing can be trusted, she must determine whether the violence is fiction, or unfolding in real time.”
Apparently, YouTube decided the trailer for Faces of Death was too intense, and removed it…which was probably GREAT publicity for the film. Subsequently, IFC released a censored version. Faces of Death will release in theatres on April 10.
Heart Eyes hit big in theatres last year, and rumors of a sequel have been thrown around ever since. Now the sequel is official, as announced by Dread Central on January 29.
Heart Eyes’ director Josh Ruben has written the sequel, and will most likely direct it as well. I wondered if this news was on its way; when I interviewed Ruben last week, I asked how he felt about a potential sequel, and his response was suspiciously short: “Incredible.” I can’t wait to see what Ruben has in mind for the return of Heart Eyes!
Sega’s hit video game franchise The House of the Dead is finally receiving a film adaptation. As reported in Deadline, the film will star Isabela Merced (Alien: Romulus).
The game was released in 1997, and was one of the first zombie-related projects to feature fast-moving creatures, rather than the stereotypical slow, lumbering zombies. Fittingly, the film adaptation is in the hands of Paul W. S. Anderson, who helmed Resident Evil.
