Terror on Tubi presents R.L. Stine's Pumpkinhead 2
Tubi has just added a new original film to its Terror on Tubi roster, and it’s the perfect addition for Halloween viewing. Last October, Tubi rolled out R. L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead, and now it’s time for the sequel, R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2.
R. L. Stine was the writer of the iconic children’s horror series Goosebumps, which later became a television series. Many current fans of horror cite Goosebumps as the book and/or tv series that made them love the genre.
Stine is also responsible for the teen horror book series Fear Street – Netflix created four popular films based on them.
Fun fact about R. L. Stine: The prolific author types all of his books using only the index finger on his left hand. At over 300 books so far, that practice has resulted in the finger becoming seriously curved. He described it as “hideous and totally bent.”
Stine never actually wrote a sequel to Pumpkinhead, but Pumpkinhead 2 continues the story that began in Tubi’s first film adaptation. In it, Sam, his brother Finn, and their mother Cassie move to Redhaven, a place so rural that they have an annual harvest festival.
A prank results in Finn somehow being trapped within a pumpkin, after which all of the adults forget he ever existed. Sam remembers however, and has until midnight on Halloween to rescue his brother.
R.L. Stine's Pumpkinhead 2 picks up where Tubi's first film left off
In Pumpkinhead 2, Sam (Bean Reid) and his friend Becka (Adeline Lo) have to work together to stop the entire town from falling under another curse. In addition to those two returning actors, the new film features a performance by Cassandra Peterson (more commonly known as horror host Elvira), who portrays a character named Cassandra.
Peterson said, “R.L. Stine and I have been in the business of scaring kids for a long time, so joining Pumpkinhead 2 was such a treat. Playing Cassandra was the perfect ‘witchy’ role for me.”
Tubi’s VP of Original Scripted Content expressed his delight at the mix of Peterson and Stine. “Elvira and R.L. Stine each gave me a completely different way to experience horror growing up – Elvira through her unforgettable late-night movie presentations, and Stine through twisty, page-turning novels.” He proclaimed Pumpkinhead 2 as both nostalgic and completely fresh, and said it’s exactly the kind of thing Tubi enjoys creating for its audience.
