The Crypt Keeper and Greg Nicotero join AMC's FearFest

AMC Global Media has appointed the Crypt Keeper as host of this year’s FearFest celebration. The iconic figure was the host of Tales from the Crypt in the 1990s, and returned to serve as spokesperson when Shudder picked up the series a few months ago.

 

The Crypt Keeper  was originally voiced by John Kassir, and he continues to voice the creepy host to this day. With this being FearFest’s 30th anniversary, he seems to be the perfect host for the event, which will feature more than 650 hours of horror movies, franchises, specials, and series.

 

Greg Nicotero (known for his special makeup effects on The Walking Dead, Creepshow, and reality series Guts & Glory) “refreshed” the character, updating his look while also honoring his original creepy appearance. Nicotero also directed this year’s FearFest segments.

 

Nicotero stated that it was “a great honor and privilege to re-create this iconic character,” and said he was very happy with the ultimate outcome.

 

BICARDI Rum is returning for the second straight year as the presenting sponsor of FearFest. This year’s campaign will begin on Thursday, October 1 on both AMC and AMC+.

 

Here are some highlights for this year’s FearFest on AMC:

 

·         Of course, Tales from the Crypt will be presented marathon-style. So if you haven’t had the chance to watch the beloved horror series on Shudder, gear up to catch all seven seasons on AMC.

·         Franchises such as A Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Final Destination, Friday the 13th, and Insidious will be available.

·         A Stephen King library will be added, with selections including IT (the film), IT (the tv mini-series), Christine, The Shining, and Misery.

·         Themed marathons will include Fear the 80s, Creature Feature, and more.

·         YAGA (series) – Rapp is a PI who is investigating the disappearance of the heir to a powerful fishery. During his investigation, he ends up butting heads with a local detective named Carson, Katherine, a university professor who has a penchant for younger men, and assorted weird suspects. The two-episode premiere airs on Friday, October 23 on AMC+, and new episodes follow weekly until the finale on November 27.

·         The Terror: Devil in Silver (series) – The third season in The Terror anthology introduces us to Pepper, who is wrongfully committed to New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital, where something evil seems to be thriving on the misery of the patients. Series premieres on Sunday, September 20 at 9:00 p.m. ET, and new episodes drop weekly.

·         The Vampire Lestat (series) – The third season of Interview with the Vampire is now available to binge on AMC+.

·         The Walking Dead: Dead City (series) – The third season of The Walking Dead spinoff is available to binge on AMC+.
