Fresh off her role in the creature feature Primate, Gia Hunter is slated to star in another horror movie this month. Level 33 will release a new supernatural horror movie called The Containment in U.S. and Canadian theaters on January 21. Hunter leads the cast as Caroline Cobbler. She comes in contact with a dark and sinister force after the tragic death of her father. Level 33 just dropped a new teaser trailer that emphasizes Caroline's demonic possession and some icky body horror moments.

The teaser showcases a nasty bug that crawls into Caroline's mouth and then burrows into her skin. It's giving us some serious body horror vibes mixed with a good, old-fashioned possession movie. Additionally, the teaser shows the demon gaining more and more control over Caroline, even after her mother enlists the Catholic Church's help. In one scene, Caroline assaults a classmate. In another, her body twists and contorts in an unnatural fashion.

It'll be interesting to see what The Containment does differently than other possession movies. Too many of them fall into the trap of trying to repeat what The Exorcist did more than 50 years ago. Yet, based on the synopsis, it does appear that there's meat and bones to the film's narrative, specifically the way that Caroline deals with her grief after losing her father. It also looks like the possession gives Caroline some gnarly supernatural powers, considering the teaser shows her tossing a man against the wall.

The movie is directed by the Zagha Boys: Jack Zagha Kababie and Yossy Zagha Kababie and co-written with David Desola. Besides Hunter, the cast is rounded out by Jack Goulbourne (Fighting with My Family, Britbox series Sister Boniface Mysteries), Charlotte Hunter (American Psycho, Roanoke: The Lost Colony), and Fernanda Romero (The Eye, Line of Duty, The Burning Plain).

This has been a huge month for Hunter. Just last week, Primate, from Paramount Pictures, released in theaters. In it, Hunter plays Erin and, along with her older sister Lucy (Johnny Sequoyah) and Lucy's friends, she faces off against a blood-thirsty, rabies-infected chimp named Ben. Primate has already grossed over $14 million worldwide at the box office, making it a success, considering its modest budget.

Though Hunter has a decent-sized role in Primate, in The Containment, she's front and center. It also looks like her role as Caroline is more challenging, especially once the possession elements kick in. The teaser promises a "nasty conclusion" with a "twist that shocks." Here's hoping!

The Containment releases in U.S. and Canadian movie theaters on January 21.
