Check out these horror movies streaming for free on Tubi in June

June marks the first official month of summer. It's the perfect time to relax in air conditioning and have a horror movie marathon. To kick off the summer, Tubi is adding several Insidious movies to it catalogue, a really good folk horror movie, and a Clive Barker adaptation. While the schedule is a bit lighter than the last few months, there's still plenty to watch.

Tubi's June schedule includes several Insidious movies

One August 21, the latest in the long-running Insidious franchise will release in theaters. Insidious: Out of the Further follows Gemma (Amelia Ave), a young mother who raises her daughter in her childhood home. She then discovers she has the rare gift of projecting into "The Further" and accidently pulls entities from that realm into the physical world.

Before the new movie hits theaters, catch up on the franchise via Tubi. The streamer is adding Insidious, Insidious Chapter 2, and Insidious Chapter 3. Though the new movie is apparently a different chapter in the franchise, it still features franchise veteran Lin Shaye.

Tubi June schedule includes a folk horror gem

Out of all of Tubi's June additions, I highly recommend The Ritual. It's a British psychological folk horror movie, directed by David Bruckner. It's based on the 2011 novel of the same name, written by Adam Nevill. The movie stars Rafe Spall, Arsher Ali, Robert James-Collier, and Sam Throughton as four friends on a hiking trip through an old-growth Swedish forest. There, they encounter an ancient presence.

The movie initially premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, and for a long time, it was only available on Netflix in the U.S. The film has a great atmosphere and really cool creature design. It's definitely worth a watch.

A few other Tubi highlights for June

Besides the films mentioned above, Tubi is also adding Clive Barker's Underworld. This film actually predates Hellraiser and was released in 1985. Directed by George Pavlou, it was written by Barker and James Caplin and stars Denholm Elliott, Nicola Cowper, Steven Berkoff, Larry Lamb, Ingrid Pitt, Irina Brook, and Art Malik. Dr. Savary (Elliott) is a sinister biochemist who has created a subhuman species that dwell in the London Underground. Addicted to Savary's mind-expanding drug, the creations suffer horrible disfigurements. The victims' kidnap Nicole (Cowper) in hopes of an antidote, and Roy Bain (Lamb), Nicole's ex-lover, is hired to save her.

If you're into more indie horror movies, then check out the 2021 film Two Witches. Directed by Pierre Tsigardis, the movie weaves together two different, yet loosely connected stories. The narratives focus on a witch who intercedes in the lives of two women. The movie stars Rebekah Kennedy and Kristina Klebe.
