Horror fans had plenty to be excited about this past week. The first trailers just dropped for some of the genre's biggest upcoming movies. This includes In a Violent Nature 2, Scary Movie 6, and Faces of Death. All of the films will release in theaters over the next few months, before they eventually arrive on streaming.

In a Violent Nature 2

In a Violent Nature 2 recently wrapped up post-production. Though no official release date has been announced yet, it's likely to slash into theaters within the coming months. It will then stream on Shudder. The first trailer shows the masked killer Johnny walking (quite a feature in the first movie), breathing heavily, and ultimately arriving at a summer camp, unleashing mayhem and murder upon the unsuspecting camp counselors. The trailer for the sequel is giving off major Friday the 13th vibes with its setting and the way Johnny smashes through a window at one point and grabs a counselor. Hopefully, some of the kills rival that of the yoga scene in the first movie.

Scary Movie 6

If you catch Scream 7 in theaters this weekend, then you're more likely than not to see the first trailer for Scary Movie 6. This movie has a lot of anticipation because it marks the return of the Wayans Brothers. They were responsible for the first two movies. The new horror comedy is directed by Michael Tiddes, but Keenen Ivory Wayans and Marlon Wayans co-wrote the script. The franchise will also see the return of Anna Faris as Cindy Campbell, Regina Hall as Brenda, Marlon Wayans as Shorty, and Dave Sheridan as Doofy Gilmore. Meanwhile, other familiar names, including Cheri Oteri, have also reprised their roles. Additionally, genre scream queen Felissa Rose is listed in the cast, along with Damon Wayans Jr., Heidi Gardner, and Shawn Wayans.

As someone who saw the trailer before Scream 7, I can confirm that the new movie spoofs several popular horror favorites of the last five-ten years. The trailer features jokes about Weapons (the run), Smile, Terrifier 3, Halloween 2018, Megan, The Substance, Sinners, Get Out, Ma, and even a Heart Eyes and Wednesday shoutout. Of course, the latest entry also spoofs Scream, the franchise that was originally the focus of Scary Movie's crude humor.

The trailer has yet to release online, but it should soon.

Faces of Death

Faces of Death releases in theaters on April 11, and it's a remake of the 1978 film written and directed by John Alan Schwartz. The film presented itself as if it were an actual documentary. The initial anthology starred Michael Carr as pathologist Francis B. Gross, who presents the viewer with footage of gruesome ways of dying. Most of the scenes were fake, but the anthology did include pre-existing footage of actual deaths and the aftermath. It's one of the reasons the anthology remains one of the most controversial modern horror movies. In fact, the movie was banned and censored in dozens of countries, which only added to its mythos. In fact, as late as 2018, The Guardian asked, "Is Faces of Death the most shocking film ever?"

The new movie, at least judging from the trailer, doesn't look like an anthology. But we'll have to wait and see. Check out the first trailer for the remake.
