rSinners was a huge hit for Warner Bros. Pictures, and went on to acquire 16 Academy Award nominations – a record-breaking accomplishment. The acclaimed horror film won four of those Oscars. Now Universal has announced that Halloween Horror Nights events in both Orlando and Hollywood will include Sinners-themed houses.

Sinners grossed over $370 million dollars globally, which made it the highest money-making original horror film of all time. It was also a rarity, in that it was highly rated by both critics and audiences alike.

The film is set in the 1930s Mississippi Delta, and tells the story of twin brothers Smoke and Stack Moore (both played by Michael B. Jordan), who have returned to their hometown of Clarksdale to open a juke joint for the Black townspeople.

They employ the help of trusted friends such as Cornbread, Grace and Bo Chow, and Smoke’s estranged wife Annie, who quickly jump in to assist.

The night starts out great for everyone, as the music and liquor flow, but the music played by young Sammie has the power to conjure spirits from the past and future…and also vampires, who surround the juke joint.

Sinners’ producers Ryan Coogler, Zinzi Coogler, and Sev Ohanian said in a joint statement that “partnering with Halloween Horror Nights gives fans the chance to step even deeper into the world of the film – to feel the music, the atmosphere, and the tension all around them.”

What will the Sinners house look like at Halloween Horror Nights?

The house will be set in the juke joint, and guests will encounter vampires Remmick, Bert and Joan, along with beloved characters such as Smoke and Stack, Sammie, Mary, Annie, Cornbread, and Pearline. Halloween Horror Nights visitors will have to face the challenge of surviving until sunrise.

John Murdy, the Executive Producer of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Hollywood expressed how the event loves to push boundaries. He compared HHN’s re-invention of the haunted house experience to how Coogler’s vision for Sinners “re-invented the vampire movie.”
