Session 9 and more films coming to Shudder for October's Season of Screams
Now that we have covered the original and exclusive titles for the first two months of Shudder’s Season of Screams event, along with September’s “resurrected” titles, let’s move on to October.
That’s right, Shudder rolled out the schedule for TWO months, rather than the usual one month. There’s a lot to cover, so let’s jump into it with October’s resurrected titles. November and December details will be released at a later date.

October 1:
Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th – This is about as thorough a documentary as you will ever find on the Friday the 13th film franchise. At 6-1/2 hours long, it is chock full of behind-the-scenes stories and footage and interviews…enough to satisfy even the most ravenous fan.
Twilight Zone: The Movie – Four different tales are included in this anthology film, each helmed by very famous directors: Steven Spielberg, John Landis, George Miller, and Joe Dante. Three of the tales were previously featured in episodes of the TZ series, but Landis’s (Time Out) was a new story. Unfortunately, the film is now best known for a tragedy that happened while filming that one. Actor Vic Morrow and two young child actors were killed due to a helicopter crash that occurred on set.
Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum – A group of YouTubers plan to livestream an investigation of an abandoned psychiatric hospital that is rumored to be haunted after its director murdered all of the patients. While the group has planned many of the scares, they discover that there are more violent and terrifying events that were not planned.
New Normal – “In 2024 Seoul, dining alone becomes a sinister ritual for six strangers, plunging them into a world where loneliness breeds unimaginable horror.”
The Endless – Brothers Justin and Aaron escaped a UFO death cult as children. When they receive a videotape from the group, Justin begins to worry that the cult members are gearing up for a mass suicide. When they make the decision to pay the group a visit, mysterious events bring them back to where they began.
The Haunting (1963) – Far superior to its 1999 remake, this adaptation of Shirley Jackson’s eerie novel The Haunting of Hill House sees Dr. Markway assembling a creep of people who have all experienced events in their past. Markway believes their experiences will help him determine whether or not Hill House is truly haunted.
Alice, Sweet Alice – 12-year-old Alice is suspected of killing her younger sister Karen in the midst of her first Holy Communion. When a series of stabbing murders occurs shortly afterwards, Alice’s parents find their lives upended.
Alone in the Dark – In this 1982 slasher, dangerous mental patients manage to break out of an asylum during a power blackout. They head to the home of their new doctor because they mistakenly believe he killed their previous doctor.
The Descent – A year after Sarah’s husband and child are killed in a car crash, her friend Juno organizes a spelunking trip with four other friends. Unbeknownst to the others, Juno has chosen to take them to an unexplored cave system, and after a collapse, the group finds themselves trapped underground with some pretty scary humanoid creatures.
Shudder's Season of Screams includes the tale of an extreme haunt
Haunt – A group of pals decide to visit an extreme haunt on Halloween night. Turns out that it is “extreme” all right…extremely deadly, and operated by a bunch of “scareactors” who take their jobs too seriously.
Lake Mungo – In this Australian found footage style film, a grieving family is trying to accept the fact that their daughter Alice has drowned. But soon, some possibly supernatural events begin to happen, and they start to question everything.
Lake Mungo Revisited – This retrospective documentary was released in 2025, and features behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with cast and crew members.
Lords of Salem – Rob Zombie wrote, produced, and directed this film that involves a deadly record that is sent to a Salem, Massachusetts DJ named Heidi. Upon listening to the record, Heidi begins to experience images involving Salem’s deadly history.
Insidious – The Lambert family has just moved into their new home when their son Dalton slips into a coma after a fall. When he returns home, still in a coma, strange sounds and other events begin to occur. Desperate to keep the family safe, Josh and Renai contact psychic Elise to help.
The Car – “A small desert town is terrorized by a powerful, seemingly possessed car, and the local sheriff may be the only one who can stop it.”
Session 9 – A crew is hired to clean up the asbestos at the abandoned Danvers State Psychiatric Hospital. When audio tapes are found containing sessions with a former patient named Mary Hobbs, tension begins to grow between the men, along with some mysterious events.
The Ghost – “Amid the barren landscape of post-famine Ireland, a father and daughter struggle to survive the brutal winter as caretakers of a remote mansion, only to be driven to the edge of insanity by the horrors lurking within.”
Bury Me Twice – It’s 1954, and disgraced detective Jack McGregor is hired by a reporter to take on the case of her missing sister. Along the way, he finds out that if he can solve this case, he may also begin to get to the bottom of a zombie outbreak.
October 5:
Harbinger – Julia agrees to go back to the house where she survived her encounter with a serial killer named Decker for a ghost hunting television show. While there, she and the crew find a fortune telling machine called the Harbinger, which tells each of them their fates.
October 7:
God of Frogs – “Deep in the heart of the jungle exists an elemental creature with eternal hunger. Once every quarter century it emerges to feed, and every time its fate is entwined with the same human family.”
The Monster Within – Garret has inherited the 100-acre home his family owned in a peaceful town. But, the land he now owns is covering up an evil secret, and he has to decide whether or not to protect it.
October 12:
Jitters – Detective Nick Collymore has been assigned to investigate the death of a young woman named Tiffany. She died mysteriously while playing a video game, and there are no suspicious clues laying around. Could the game be the cause?
October 14:
The Mill Killers –Four female friends have a meet up at a bar in their hometown, and decide to take a trip to a local mill where they had hidden some money they stole years earlier. Things get tricky when they are stalked by someone who appears to know their secret.
October 15:
Etheria Film Night 2026 - Etheria is an annual showcase of genre films made by women directors, and has been hosted by Shudder for a few years now. Tune in to see some pretty unique short films.
October 19:
Crazy Lips – “Satomi is a young woman who hires an eccentric psychic to prove her missing brother’s innocence after he becomes the prime suspect in the gruesome decapitation of four schoolgirls.”
Gore From Outer Space – In this wild sequel to Crazy Lips, Satomi decides to confess her story to a nun shortly before she is scheduled to die in the electric chair. The story she tells is bizarre to say the least, involving a psychic, a dirty politician, and some quirky FBI agents.
Play Dead – Chloe (Bailee Madison) fakes death in order to get into the local morgue, and ends up in a very dangerous situation.
October 21:
Dead of Night – In this 1945 film, Walter Craig travels to a farm to see a potential client. Once he arrives there, he realizes that everything is strangely familiar, and that he has recently dreamt of the people who are there.
Fear No Evil – Released in 1981, this was one of those films that was inspired by The exorcist and The Omen. Andrew is a high school student who just happens to be Lucifier reincarnated. Meanwhile, two humans who are actually arch angels take him on.
The Horror of Frankenstein – In this 1970 Hammer film, the arrogant Victor Frankenstein manages to create a reanimated human stitched together from assorted body parts. Unfortunately, the ungrateful monster wreaks havoc.
The North Witch Five – Five women set out in search of a mysterious cabin said to have gone missing 60 years ago. Their search gets complicated when they find themselves being stalked by a sinister entity.
October 26:
Deviant – “Jake, a young sex addict, finds his deviant mind turning on him as he continues his self-destruction through entertaining all of his darkest sexual fantasies and desires.”
October 28:
The R.I.P. Man – A serial killer with no teeth places his sights on the teens in a well-to-do town. Reviewers of this film have praised the inventive kills.
