Shudder has announced two more new films that will be streaming in May of this year. Both of the upcoming movies recently had short theatrical releases, something that Shudder has been doing with their originals and exclusives over the past year or so.
Late Night with the Devil, Clown in a Cornfield, and Good Boy all received the same treatment, and all were successful. Dolly also had a brief theatrical release, and it will begin streaming on Shudder later this month.
The first movie up for discussion is Whistle, which premiered at Fantastic Fest in September of last year. Its theatrical run began on February 6, 2026 in the United States.
In Whistle, a high school transfer student discovers an odd whistle shaped like a skull in her new locker. As she soon discovers, the locker had previously belonged to the school’s star athlete Mason. His locker came up for grabs after he burst into flames and died during a basketball game.
Soon the students begin to realize that the Aztec Death Whistle found in the locker causes their future methods of death to find them a little earlier than originally planned.
The screenplay for Whistle was written by Owen Egerton, who also wrote the short story it is based on. The film received average reviews after its theatrical release.
Whistle will make its debut on Shudder on May 8

This is Not a Test released in theatres in the United States on February 20,and is based on the popular young adult novel of the same title by Courtney Summers. A sequel novella titled Please Remain Calm was published early this year, so it’s possible the film may follow suit. It stars Olivia Holt (Heart Eyes) as a seriously depressed high school student named Sloane, who is suicidal.
Her suicide attempt is interrupted by a flood of zombies that get into her house and kill her abusive father, and Sloane ends up escaping with a group of her school mates. The group ends up barricading themselves in their high school, and Sloane is forced to consider whether or not she really wants to die, given how much her friends clearly want to live.
Froy Gutierrez (Teen Wolf), Carson MacCormac (Clown in a Cornfield), Corteon Moore (From), and Luke Macfarlane (Invincible) also star in This is Not a Test.
This is Not a Test will be available to watch on Shudder on May 22.
