Cinemark resurrects its Fear of Missing Out horror movie series for October

With October just about upon us, there's plenty of ways to celebrate the best time of the year. One option is to enjoy the return of Cinemark's Fear of Missing Out horror movie series. Like previous years, the schedule includes rereleases of classic genre movies, coupled with brand new films.
The series kicks off with a special 20th anniversary Fathom Entertainment event screening of Guillermo del Toro's classic Pan's Labyrinth. The movie will play at Cinemark locations from October 9-15.
While the Fear of Missing Out series doesn't include a horror movie a day, there's still plenty on the schedule. Here's what's included, besides Pan's Labyrinth.
Other Mommy (October 9) This is one of the new movies on this year's roster. Based on a Josh Malerman story, Other Mommy follows 8-year-old Bela (Arabella Olivia Clark), who suddenly encounters a doppelganger of her mother (Jessica Chastain). She refers to the mysterious and creepy entity as "Other Mommy," hence the film's title.
Night of the Living Dead (October 14) They're coming to get you, Barbara. George A. Romero's zombie classic, Night of the Living Dead, is one of the best films to watch this time of year, from its opening graveyard scene to its harrowing and devastating ending. Even if you've seen the movie countless times before, it's always worth a rewatch.
The Nightmare Before Christmas (October 16) Here's a Tim Burton classic that you can take the whole family to, and it's a perennial favorite for many with iconic characters, especially Jack Skellington and Sally. Once the credits roll, you'll be singing "This Is Halloween," if you haven't started already.
Clayface (October 23) Clayface isn't your typical DC superhero movie. No, it's a body horror film about Matt Hagen, a rising Hollywood actor whose career ends after an attack leaves him disfigured. He resorts to an experimental treatment that has monstrous results.
Scream (October 26) As part of its 30th anniversary, Scream is returning to Cinemark theaters. This is really a movie to see with a crowd. It has so many great lines, fan favorite characters, and iconic scenes. It's the slasher that upended the genre and rewrote the rules while knowing and poking fun at the rules.
Halloween (October 27) Of course, no series like this is complete without John Carpenter's iconic 1978 movie Halloween. Like Scream, this is a film that redefined the genre and inspired many imitators, all while introducing the world to Michael Myers and final girl Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis). This is another great one to see in a packed theater.
Hotel Transylvania (October 31) Finally, Cinemark's Fear of Missing Out series concludes with Hotel Transylvania, a movie perfect for the kids and a good gateway into the horror genre. The movie stars a protective Count Dracula who runs a safe haven for monsters. However, their world is upended when a human accidently discovers their sanctuary.
